Family of EMSB student were trapped in Australian movie theatre

Montreal - Wednesday, January 8, 2020

The English Montreal School Board is extending its thoughts and prayers to the people of Australia affected by the deadly bushfires, in particular the family of   five-year-old John Caboto Academy student Jackson Buckley.

Jackson and his sister Georgia, 3, travelled to Australia December 27 with their parents Tim Buckley and Meaghan Wegg. Tim was born in Australia. The family made world headlines recently when they had to be sheltered in a movie theatre for six days. Upon being evacuated Meaghan was interviewed by CNN and has since taken to Instagram and Facebook to share the family’s plight.

David Servello, the principal of the Ahuntsic elementary school, says that parents, students and staff are eager to hear from Jackson’s family and they look forward to their safe return to Montreal.

The family will return on January 25, after which time the parents will be invited to share their experience with the students.
