Know the facts
Potential suicide warning signs in youth
• Saying things like “life is not worth living” or “nobody would notice if I were gone”
• Changes in eating and sleeping habits
• Withdrawal from friends, family, and regular activities
• Unusual neglect of personal appearance
• Not tolerating praise or rewards
• Violent or rebellious behavior, running away or unusual emotional outbursts
• Persistent boredom, difficulty concentrating, or a decline in the quality of schoolwork
• Frequent complaints about physical symptoms, often related to emotions (stomach aches, headaches, fatigue, etc.)
• Drug and alcohol use
